About the Author
Peter Veth is Director of Research at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, Canberra. He is the author of over 100 articles and books on the archaeology of arid zone hunter-gatherers.
Mike Smith is Director of Research and Development at the National Museum of Australia. He pioneered research into late Pleistocene settlement in the Australian desert and has worked extensively across the arid zone attempting to piece together its human and environmental history.
Peter Hiscock is a Reader in the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the Australian National University.

Very useful book for choosing and growing aquarium plants

I really like this book. The book devotes several pages explaining the types of plants, how to separate and plant them, and other useful information before getting into the individual plants. The book is very user friendly and I think anyone, at any age can read the book with no problem. The pictures of each plant are excellent quality. I really found the book helpful and I will be referring to it as I choose plants for my tanks.

Decent Plant reference, but High Tech centric

He covers a lot of plants, but I found that sometimes the most popular variety's weren't discussed, pictures were excellent though sometimes of emergent, not submerged growth. This in combination with The 101 Best Aquarium Plants is a decent start for reference set. There still is a void out there of a complete reference manual for aquatic plants with thorough descriptions for each species and 1000+ of plants instead of just 100. High tech centric growing/gardening instructions. You don't have to use ferts or micro nutrients, you don't have to have tons of light, you don't have to have C02. The places where these plants evolved didn't have any of these high tech elements, why should you have to? Read Diana Walstad's Ecology of the Planted Aquarium.
